Why not ditch the head unit?

The above cost me about £120 including speakers/wiring etc.  Better sound quality and neater install!

I've bought new speakers for in the doors on my eunos, having offered them up thinking they're the same size, the screw holes dont match up and aren't even overlapping the frame to drill new ones, only by a fraction though which is more annoying.

So.... I have seen a few people have made adapters, and seen that some are available to buy online.

Has anyone ever bought any, if so, which ones? Are they worth while?

I'd sooner buy some that will be right as my woodwork skills are not up to par for these kinds of things ha ha.

Have to look when I get home.

Nothing too special, just something as one stopped working.

A lot of postings on here, but I'm going to ask for a (possibly) simple answer. 2006 NC without Bose. I am not looking for 'artillery piece in the boot' bass just a nice balanced sound. £200 max head unit, £50 speakers. Swap-out, swap-in with slme sound deadening. No phone, media source an ipod wired from the glove compartment with head unit control. Question? head unit recommend, single or double din? Speaker recommend? Sorry if this is re visiting old ground, but I'm looking for an un cluttered answer.

Read posts 112 - 116 & 121 on this thread http://www.mx5nutz.c...c=139728&page=6

This is a tried & tested combination which will greatly improve your sound quality.  I copied kilham5's components part for part and I'm very happy with it.  Many others on here have the same head unit with their own choice of speakers.

Stuck some Pioneer TS-G1733i speakers in the Mk1 the other day, to replace the old MX5Parts 'upgraded' ones they had a few years back I was never happy with.
Sound great considering the price and they're just a drop in swap, far better.

Went for some Pioneer TS-G1732i and they're great for the price. Nice depth to the sound but I've found there's some annoying rattling from the top of the doorcard if they're turned up too loud.
