I need to get an import rear number plate and I was wondering on what size to get.
I've done a search, but to no avail.
Could please post up some pictures for me and the size of the plate.
Thank you

I don't think you can go less than 11" wide as you'll see the cut outs in the rear panel and no more 7" high as it wont fit in.

I'm a little stuck now as to what to do

I've bought 3D carbon letters the same as my current plates, but they are 79mm in height and I've just found out that import letters are 64mm iirc.
The 79mm will fit with a 6.5 deep plate, but I'm not too sure if they'll look too big or not.
Plus my number plate recess seems bigger than the standard Eunos hole, so a 13" wide plate wouldn't look out of place
Hmmmmm what to do

A 375mm x 165mm plate fills the Eunos plate recess entirely. Like this.Plus my number plate recess seems bigger than the standard Eunos hole, so a 13" wide plate wouldn't look out of place
Hmmmmm what to do

Since you have a 6 digit plate Jay couldn't you crop your existing plate to reduce the width? The minimum legal requirement for the surround is 11mm I think, most stock plates have a lot more. I think large digits on a double row may mean the top is obscured by the boot lid overhang and look a bit odd. But if you've got the plate already a trial fit should give you an idea.
i know that the legal spacing is 10mm between letters and 11mm or 13mm space around the outside to the edge of the plate. if this is done correct then (as you say) the plate is obscured making it illegal, but if you trim it to make it unobscured (that i see the most of on 5's) you are making it illegal too. so i went for the nice ones you see on her car. correct spacing but not sure if the letter sizes are illegal? i think they are motorbike size.

Sorry to pinch your post, but could anyone tell me the size of the import square plates for the front numberplate please? I've got a horrible long stick on one at the moment & it's butt ugly! I've seen 13x7 & 12x6 but not sure what size is legal?
Cheers

Just to add a bit onto this,
Japenese size number plates are only legal on Eunos Roadsters, ( you can have the same font size as on a motorbike too )
If you have an MX5 they are not legal !!
The less digits you have the smaller the plate can be within legal parameters of course.

Does the car have to be registered as a Eunos Roadster to qualify? Mine was registered as an MX5.

Hi Quinvy,
Thats an interesting question !?
As long as your car is an import then you should be fine and legal, The chassis Number will prove what the car is as the Eunos numbers are not the same as UK cars.
A lot of imports were registered as an Mx5 to solve the insurance companies dislike of Imports, nowadays its not a problem.
