FIRSTLY I am going to apologise for asking this, as I have been researching this myself for about a week and have only fried my brain, made things worse....

I have an NB 1.8 which is ripe for a supercharger, but it seems that no fitting kits or comprehensive kits are currently available in the UK? Also mixed reviews on which superchargers are the idea ones to use?

So can anyone in a nutshell point me to the correct version supercharger to buy and a reputable company who supplies and install kit? I can weld fine but not really fabricate!

I'm about to get that kit with a m45 charger I got for £40 (ebay prices asking £300+ are an actual joke, some on FB near the £100-150 mark).

Have a look a Hawks' thread as he uses that kit and made about 190hp.

The chargers are the mini m45 or merc m62 superchargers. Before you buy the Salon kit have a look of this and speak to Bofi/Salon about what they will do to avoid similar issues (at the least ask them to check it over before dispatch), but it might have been a one off. For the cost it shouldn't have had such issues and seeing a few comments about various kits on the market I've decided a DIY one for 1/4 of the cost is a better option.

Mine is a mk1 1.8 as well so with the slightly more bade power from a nb you should be able to make 200!

Also it seems you want to make aire that you keep the vics solenoid working and get it mapped in when you have the car dynoed, as you can lose 10hp or so at the top of its left unused!

The kit you have linked is super cheap, with just needinf to do a little bit of welding, I've been running mine now for about 4 years now with no issues, I haven't adapted that kit at all apart enlarging a couple of the mounting holes to allow for adjustment!

I have been meaning to ask about improvements actually. What is the main restriction on that kit? I was thinking the style of the outlet looks like it could be improved, but then I've just seen the new G19 outlet and it's basically just a box, I can't imagine Doug would have designed it that way if it was going to flow badly, maybe it doesnt matter. O, my charger arrived this morning! Time to buy other parts, lol.

Just the adjustment of the supercharger to line the pulleys up better, mine didn't need much just enlarge the holes slightly so you move it around a few mm

And I don't think it's particularly restrictive, the supercharger just pumps a set amount of air per revolution, no more no less.

Sounds good. Yeh this is what I was thinking, it moves air in such a turbulent manner that I'm not sure it's impacted by flow restriction in quite the same way as a turbo.
