So it turns out DIY flocking, not as easy as I expected
Dead slave meant it was time to install the braided clutch hose thats been sitting on the shelf for like a year
Half an old dash in so the steering column had something to bolt to while I dicked about trying to flock
In case anybody was wondering, dash/cluster wiring is different on a '90 to a '96
DIY attempt two
I'm no good at DIY flocking, paid someone that knows what theyre doing and oh so worth it
Speedo cable died while putting the cluster back in
Melted an exhaust hanger
Temporary bodge to get me home until a new hanger got delivered
Flocked dash all back together
And put a dash cam in too

Bought some fibreglass bits the internet loves to hate
I grew up on Need For Speed Underground 2 and The Fast and The Furious and I will not apologise for that
Tried something different with the body kit bits as all the flake on the body of the car had faded to silver by this point
By something different, I just mean more flake buried under way more clear

Bought myself a toy bicycle. Super impressed with the seasucker mount, I've actively tried to shake it loose and it just grips
Fitted the rest of the underglow
Took it for a spot of camping
I couldn't have done this better if I'd have planned or measured it
A friend also bought a set of pop ups

Kinda love unnecessary lighting mods
Its cool though, I've still got indicators and sidelights and headlights too (projector headlights in the hole that used to just be side/indicators
Set of skirts
Dad and I both drove something home from work
Every now and then I get to drive something pretty exciting and call it work
HORN BUTTON for like the first time since I bought this. No more struggling to touch the wire on some metal
Scary MOT times
Bought a second hand soft top, removed my old one on my lunch break under the (incorrect) assumption it wasnt going to rain
It doesn't leak any more and the roof is as black as it should be
Drove it a bunch
Hosed it down
Reunited with my old one
Got a friend a job with me and bullied him into replacing my rear callipers as one had siezed. I was slightly more stoked than him when we finally got a pedal back
Hopefully next year I wont be flat out doing my car over christmas while the workshop is empty

I've just typed out and subsequently lost the most recent update and I'm a little upset about that so heres the slightly more brief version
Broke it all down into pieces
Flatted/scuffed it all (barely and repair work to do as it was all painted 12 months ago, this round was just for colour)
Took the windscreen seal out, this is the cars 4th colour change that I know of and it feels like this seal was maybe taken out once before
Had a big fight with a bunch of flaky previous paint (always scotch everything twice as hard as you think you need to)
Got rolled into while parked up back in February, split my shortened bumper So I finally got that in 1 piece again
Barcoat and primer for the screen surround
Finally time to replace the floppy passenger wing mirror with one thats been on the shelf for the last 3/4 years
Masked out ready for the sauce
Sauce
Rolled out
I don't know much thats more painful than sanding down fresh paint
Back in we go
All worth it for the flow coat
Poured the remaining flake clear over my pocket screwdriver
Starting to look like a car again
Many many hours of polishing and waxing later
Remembered it had been 5/6 years since I cared about paintwork and therefore had no car washing things left. Bought a snowfoam setup mainly for instagram purposes, seems to do the thing though
Bought a set of spacers because the wheels have been looking shy
These seals have been full bananna since I bought the car, new set from Mazda were painful to buy but easy and satisfying to install
So far I've not been able to make a camera show quite how much this colour/flake combo reacts to light but this is somewhat of an idea
There we go, all caught up again
