Evening all, what’s the best double din fascia to go for?

I’ve seen some threads dating back to 2014 or so but wondered if things have changed since. I’m picking up a 2007 mk3 with the Bose system this weekend and want to look at fitting a good quality Android Auto double din unit to it.

Looking for advice on pretty much everything involved.

Cheers!

Hi, Newbie here.

I'm in a similar predicament. The Mk 3 I bought only has a single CD unit, and the ipod interface that the previous owner fitted has died!

I want to fit a double din all singing, all dancing unit to this car, but just may end up with a single din MP3 compatible cd/dvd player. So long as I can play my collection in the car with decent audio quality (I'm no audiophile), I'll be happy, but satnav, torque computer readout etc would be a bonus.

With that in mind I have ordered a fitting kit from ebay that includes steering wheel controller. I may have paid over the odds, but then, that is why I've joined this site, to get the lowdown on the best methods and deals for the MX5.

I will update as this project unfolds.

Fit a radio with a USB slot and put your music on a USB drive.

Well . . . . . . you CAN spend a lot of money.

The kit TheDuke has is from a good firm.

We got a cheap system - as ex-display Pioneer MVH-A200VBT - off eBay.

We are non-Bose and also put cheap £30+ speakers from MX5Parts which did improve the OEM head unit no end.

Audio unit options are interesting. Some will only fit known kit like Pioneer and spend £300+ on the unit.

Others use the cheaper Chinese branded stuff

Ours has usb for music, no CD slot.

Some still want CDs

Some want phone mirroring etc

Some want SattNav options and reversing cameras too.

Whatever you get the quality of the display and the power of the sun can create interesting problems with screen visibility.
