Evening everyone , i`m new to the forum so please bear with me . Iv`e recently converted a 1.6 auto to a 1.8 manual , i`ve run into a few issues , with the the throttle open fully engine cuts out ??!! Secondly , with the timing set correctly , the tick over is 1400 rpm and i cant bring it down to a manageable level . Has anyone ever made this swap and if they did ,did they have same issues ? The high revs suggest an air leak. Is there a rubber cap on the hose barb sticking out the back of cyl.4 runner on the inlet manifold?
I just did a search to compare a '92 1.6 Auto's throttle position sensor with the '94 1.8 manual one and they look functionally the same. Wire colours are a little different but I assume you already went through this. What ECU and loom are you using?

Hi , firstly , thanks for taking the time to post this , i assumed the air leak problem , but after a couple of hrs couldnt find anything . Not sure about the rubber hose on the back of the manifold , will check in the daylight . My other thought was to modify a 1,8 throttle body to take a 1.6 TPS . the ECU is the auto and the loom is the existing one

Curious. So it's kept the same ECU, wiring loom and throttle as before, just the engine and manifolds changed, yet now it's cutting out at full throttle.
There's something nagging at the back of my mind that I've read about someone having addressed the same problem but I can't remember...

spraying brake cleaner around all the joints and listen for a change in engine note
