Hi all,

On my list of things to sort since taking the car from the garage, the passenger side seat base has some cracks / splits to the point where I can now see foam.  These are quite simply age related, wear and tear dry conditions but I'm not wanting it to get worse.  They are not straight line splits, more of a 3 way crack that split where they all met.

Financially the car is not worth anything more than a patch so I'm wondering if anyone had had any experience with this kind of thing?  I'm looking at either the fabric patch slid under and glued or just a leather patch bonded over it.  Not the prettiest but would not visible with my fat arse on it anyway.

You are correct with your idea of a patch underneath the split, but use leather rather than fabric.
Any cracks after the repair can be filled with leather filler.
However, the patch will prevent any further splitting/tearing, and since it is inside the seat the colour of the leather you use doesn’t matter.
