Good afternoon all,

I’m looking at a roll over bar. I am quite taken by the GC Fabrication GCR3, I know they are quality and well made.

Is there any others worth a look before I commit to buy?

They also look very good quality bars. I’ve seen them before thinking about it

I run a GCR3, the extra width gives much more side protection and the different leg mountings to the TRLane make it far less likely they will pull out in a roll. TRLane is fine for day to day, but if you can afford it, the GCR rage is a better design

The GC fab ones also have the benefit of being able to easily add the side door bars for extra stiffness and side protection.

I've got the GCR1 with door bars and would recommend it.

afaik the GC bars is placed further back than the GCR series, so it's less likely to interfere with your head.

I have GC2 and is satisfied.

Good quality and pricing.

Even comes with a certificate.

Edited: Corrected my error. :)

not true I'm afriad. All GC bars have a leg angle of 33 degree IIRC.

Ano no, not any that are any good. Carbing ones do but the legs are too long, there's no additional bracing so it's easy for that bar to bend in a crash. The GCR bars tie in to the rear chassis leg (like TRLane and pretty much every bar), but the front mounts tie into the inner arch area/rear bulkhead, while other bars just tie into the chassis leg again. Attaching too the rear bulk head makes it much less likely to rip out in a roll as one mount is vertical and one horizontal, and also spreads the load across two different areas of the car (rather than just the rear chassis legs)

I stand corrected.

I mixed GCR-series with GC3.

I edited my post.

Thank you

Yeh, communication wasn't super easy, you're best off phoning. Mine did arrive as spec'd though and Grant was polite to deal with on the phone. It is only Grant who does it all so it is a lot for one person.

Do you have a specific question to ask? Orders can just be placed on the website.

Yeh R bars go down either side of the seats and mount into to the rear wheel arch areas, the other bars only mount to the rear chassis legs. R bars are much more secure and safer, less likely to be pulled out in a roll, and it spreads the load over more areas of the car rather than just the one bit of rear chassis leg sheet metal.

If you can afford the R ones, and are happy to trim some of the interior plastic then they're the best choice. If the car is just used for street use then an R might be a little over kill, but I'd still say it's worth it.

Yeh it will work with both. There are 2 different versions of it, one that fits with the glass soft top screen and one with the plastic screen found on early cars, the only difference is how far down the cross bracing goes. The lower the better really, but in reality it doesn't make a difference. There is a text box at check out to specify which you want.

I went with the lower one but mainly because I was removing the soft top anyway.

I hope you are getting paid commision
