Hi everybody,

Thought I'd post up a few pics and a bit of a speel on what I've done to my car, its a 1993 S Special

I bought it about 2 year ago as I've wanted one for a very long time.......it was time to take the plunge!!

This is her in the condition I bought her, the body was not great, paint was flat in spots with a few patches of laquer peel and a few parking dents/scapes, the front passenger side wing had obviously gotten a whack at some stage too and was badly repaired, overspray everywhere, doubt the guy doing it masked of anything when he re-sprayed the wing! Important thing was it was rust free!! Result!

First mod was an rspeed front lower lip spoiler, think it give the car a nice low mean look at the front
(I think they should have all had this from the factory)

Image

Then I fitted a set of Koni lowering springs mated to the factory Bilstein shocks, the ride is quite hard with this set-up and I shall be looking into an alternative set-up in the future. Painted the calipers red at the same time.

Image

Next up was the exhaust, original tail pipe sheared off on the drive home after I bought it! Went for a Mongoose ss exhaust with a s/s decat pipe, sounds quite nice, not too loud with this setup.

Image

Then I fitted some drilled and grooved disc as the old ones were shot!

Fitted a slam panel cover I got from one of the lads on the MX5 Ireland club, it came in stainless but I painted it satin black to match in with the rocker cover which I then proceeded to rattle can satin black with red lettering.

Internally I fitted the lockwood white dial kit, car came with a nice carbon Mazdaspeed gearknob, one of the few mods it had when I bought it. I also fitted some nice IL Motorsport aluminium pedals.

Spared up and then got the car re-sprayed, guys did a nice job on her, at this time I fitted the classic car retro wing mirrors, Rennenmetal towing eye, lotus style badge and a set of 15" Cades Eros rims

Hope you enjoyed readin.....many more jobs to do in the future.......

A little update on my car, got inspired by looking at some of the custom interiors on here and decided to change my door cards, used timber flooring underlay mounted on the original door card hardboard, trimmed with a suede look alike material and finished off with a set of Maplin speaker handles, hope you like

Regards

Peter

Thanks for all the positive comments guys

Fitted a silicone coolant hose kit (9pcs) I got from AK Automotive over the weekend, a right pita of a job! old hoses were welded onto the stubs, had to cut most of them off with a stanley, a lot of the retaining clips for the hoses are in hard to reach areas, plenty of skinned knuckles! Also managed to break the thermoswitch on the thermostat housing so had to replace that too. then changed the coolant.
