I noticed some of the HRM are water resistent for 50m. I wasn't sure how that would work since I swim a lot further than 50m.

Hi,

Here's mine.....but I don't know what it is only to say I'm glad its there. It came with the car. What is it?

Anyone able to identify my roll bar - I'm curious myself?

looking at the mounting points, i'd maybe suggest that's a hefty style bar. carbing and safety 21 mount the front feet to the floor afaik. yours seems to be sat on the seatbelt mounts and the rear stays don't appear to extend very far back. do they extend through the rear shelf?

tom

Hi Tom,

thanks for the reply - yes, the rear stays go through the parcel shelf and are bolted to the chassis. I just have'nt seem one like mine anywhere else?

Thanks URN great pics :thumb-up:

I will most probably go for one of those when I buy one in March, reading up on the Hard Dog website http://www.bethania-garage.com/ace.htm it seems that if I get double diagonals on the main hoop it still means I can use a glass rear screen and I still get a harness bar too - sounds prefect as the M2 Sport isn't compatible with a glass rear screen if you go for a harness bar as well.

RSNick - good to hear from someone who has actually rolled a mx5 - what sort of roll bar did you have at the time, if you can remember? Good to hear you lived to tell the tale - shows they are worth the money I guess.

Nice one :)

Hmm, interesting: I can't see how any bar that has a couple of bolts in it's construction being a safety bar - these are what's gonna fail if the worst happens

No, not an MX-5, it was a Triumph GT6 track car - 175bhp in 750 kilos. Just had a rollbar, no cage. Happened at St Mary's, Goodwood, I came off the island after hitting a patch of oil at around 90mph.

I've been trying to work out for a while now, which harddog bar positions best in terms of clearing the 'head' area. I would like one which is angled or mounted fairly far back to reduce head / bar collision moments in an accident. However, often the photos of the bars don't illustrate the clearance very well (i.e. it is rare to see a side profile photo showing the bar position in relation to the seat)

does that make sense? how are the different harddog products in terms of this?

M1 hardtop , with the seat fully back (stock seat) the front of the bar is in lie with the rear of your head

so it's good to be short for once! As I have the seat forwards a bit, there would be more clearance...

I know what you mean

^ thats a Hardcore Hardtop

^ Ace (still needs the foam zip tieing on)

what you want is a side shot with driver so that you can see head position in relation to bar :thumb-up:

Hi Urn.
Seeing as I spent the best years of my life in the back streets of Macclesfield, I should recognize the cobbled street where your car is parked but I can't seem to place it. Give us a clue, is it in the Park Lane area? Don't tell me - just give me a clue.

Sorry I havent got any better pictures of my old car.

Its a hard dog deuce - so I could still fit glass rear screen (just)
The seat is far back as im 6ft and the bar was not too close to my head - relatively.

Sorry for the crap phone pic, was before the car was finished, note the unpainted sills.

I think the Deuce and the Ace both use the same mounting points which are further back than all the other roll bars, so I'll be going for one of them. Probably the Ace as it looks more substancial than the Deuce.

If you get an Ace with the double diagonals in the main hoop and the harness bar on the rearward braces it should still be compatible with a glass rear screen... I think?
