Couldn't stay away lol.... I loved my RX8 but couldn't justify using it daily and begrudged it sitting there 6 days a week. So it went last autumn and I went on the hunt for a new motor.

Needed to be:

RWD (cause racecar)
Japanese (cause ricecar)
Simple to run and maintain

Looked at lots of different options then seen this little guy just outside Dublin

It is a 98 MK2 MX5 (import) but it is a VS Spec (and that is the important bit)

After my mk1 I fancied someone a little more refined inside and the mk2 is the perfect balance of the raw drive of the mk1 and the daily drivability of a mk3

This example has all the VS bits and also came with mazdaspeed coilovers, oem skirts, boot spoiler and ridiculously light SSR wheels.

My priority was finding a rust free example. This car is perfect underneath and the shell. Very very pleased with how it is sitting

Totally love how this thing drives, very very raw and responsive and a total hoot to drive 'swiftly'

Since buying it I have:

Added a TR Lane GPD roll bar (real bar attached to floor and frame, not a style bar you often see)
Painted wheels BMW Sepang Bronze
Front reg changed to sticker until bumper is smoothed
Drift wheel (racecar remember?)
Spacers on front
Full service, all fluids etc

Plans are:

Full mk2.5 black interior
Bucket seats and harnesses to be fitted
Rear spacers to be added
Rear backbox
Front GV lip
Fast road setup
Detango and tint headlight internals

Thanks for looking and comments welcome.

Quite like that, I might get a stick-on front plate.

Wee update....

Wasn't liking the colour of the oil recently, was only changed in October by previous owner (apparently) but was looking tired so I switched up to 5w40 fully synthetic and fired a new filter in for piece of mind

Big thanks to motor gym as usual who kept me dry and warm

Also fitted some 5mm spacers in the rear

Hard to see in photos but they made a nice difference to rear stance of the car.

Another Big thanks to Motor Gym for great service as usual.

After the spacers I noticed the Camber was way off at rear and tracking also out so headed off to Kerrs Antrim to get a fast road setup done, it has really changed the way the car handles

The car is set to wheels in motion settings (or close as possible)

I then have just picked up a full black interior and am hoping to get it and my bucket seats and harnesses fitted over easter... (cant wait for that fun job)

I also finally fitted my OMP decals.... wasn't happy with original ones, so Andy at Blackwater graphics made me a nicer set lol... Also have some wheel decals and centers being made up also.
