As some of you know we have managed to buy a Hayashi Roadster.
For you that don't know, Body Shop Hayashi is more of a custom design shop than a tuner per say, Jack Hayashi the owner, designs a lot of concept cars and has entered them at the annual Tokyo Auto Salon. He has won a few awards for his designs as well.
His first Eunos related design was the "Hayashi Roadster", a sleek black roadster that had a unique style of its own.

Hayashi punched the stock 1.6 out to 1.8 litres, added light weight forged pistons, a mild cam with adjustable sprockets, and did a little head work (himself, of course) reshaping the combustion chambers. With the help of a reprogrammed ECU and some stronger valve springs, the engine is now good for 9000rpm.

He could do the conversion for about ÂŁ9,000 and then you could have the lights for an extra ÂŁ1,200, wing mirrors ÂŁ300, rear lights and spoiler.

There was a thread about them a while back and here is the link for all of you to see and read.

But anyway our one,
I managed to find it on eBay as the owner was going to break it, we went over wanting the body kit and wheels (not knowing what it was at the time) then decided not to go for the car due to it having a bit of rust, i told hooligan and james madabout and they thought it might be a Hayashi, we looked much deeper into it all and confirmed it was 100% a Hayashi (thanks guys). So we went back to the owner and agreed on a price and took it off his hands. It is sitting on Pansport G7 C8R's which are staggered, 225 at back (9j i think) and 205 at front, we will get them refurbished then they will look stunning. I don't think it has its original engine so if it doesn't we might put our 230hp turbo engine and running gear into it, the car needs a lot of tlc but it should be do able, then it will be one of not many Hayashi Roadsters (well it is now but you get my point) in existence, they are rare in japan let alone uk and the rest of europe.

Any way the pics

It is a total lemon at the moment but i think even a good buff and polish would make a start on it. It does need a lot of work but it's got potential. It's living with me at the moment as Steve & James have run out of room at theirs!

I am pretty sure it doesn't have the special engine though, it does have something different about it but on the outside everything is standard down to the airbox. If it had got special bits and pieces it should running some supporting mods yet it looks totally standard under there. I have a feeling though that this car is going to uncover some trinkets in good time...

Oh and our home made window bodge didn't work. It blew out on the way to work this morning!

Yeah i hope it has the engine but its just not as responsive as i would expect it to be, i'll take the rocker cover off and look at the cams and pullys. It has boost gauge inside the car so i suspect it had the original engine then was turbo'd then had a stock engine put back in it, but we will see.
Also the bloke we bought it off bought it from a man where it was kept in a massive green house in a field in norfolk, just shows you what cars are out there.

That's not a boost gauge buddy, sorry to dishearten you. It's an oil pressure gauge.

#7 ·
Yea I was looking at it this morning, neither say boost. And neither go into negative figures either, which a boost gauge would.

Just saw the state of the front bumper, where does this guy live? Obviously fixable but for crimes against awesomeness I feel a slap is required.

LOL you need to see it in the flesh, its held together with bungee cables. No shit.

Love it, what a find

Here you go jimbo. Left one is a water temperature gauge and the right one is a barometer. Probably oil pressure but boost gauges read vacuum too which this one doesn't. Heater works though, which is more than can be said for mine!

I'd say it's an oil pressure gauge after having done a bit of research...

That's awesome! Those arches are absolutely amazing, they flow so well.

I'm another for hoping it has the proper engine.

Nice find! Will be interesting to watch your progress on this one!

Nice one guys. Glad you have now picked it up.

Also I reckon you have a thing for taking a new purchase to a tescos petrol station...

I see a common trend emerging!

The common trend is they usually swing by my house when they get them and the Tesco is my local. In this case they swung by but forgot to take the Hayashi home so it's on my drive at the moment. Actually, it's in our carpark as it was cold this morning and the heater works, unlike my car!

Lol. Cheers mate.
