hey guys, in the future im planning on getting some 949 6ul's, lovely rims  , and am planning ahead the money so i can get them, :D

if anybody has any opinions on these they would be valued immencely, as im buying them for the lightness and style :) . But i was wondering what size rim is easier to find rubber for, 9's, or 10's, for example the 10's rims may be more expencive but the tyre choice is much more varied etc and possibly cheaper and saving me money in the future, i am going to get into research on the net, but its always nicer if someone knows the info off first-hand :)

thanks in advance,

Jac :)

Do you really need to consider 9" or 10" wide wheels? 8" would be plenty wide enough. Unless you need the width to cope with increased power?

10" wide will need arch sugery to fit I think! and or Wider arches - depending on offset?

8" on this needed arch cutting and wider arches - zero offset.

(some people do run them without arches - FYI - but they stick out a bit!

There is fitting guide on 949's website. You need coilovers with 60mm springs for the 9s and 10s to fit without huge spacers.

If tire price/availability is important then the 8 inch rim are the only viable option. 205s sit well and are affordable and widely available. Everything in 225/45 and 215/45 is 100+ quid per tire and impossible to find (only toyo in europe) Nevermind the tires that will sit well on 10 inch rims.. I think there is only the caterham avon tire in 245-40-15

Then again, people only looking for "the look" manage to stretch 185 tires on 10 inch rims so it is possible. I think you might get away with some 205s that are wider in practice on the 9s..

The Mk2s have bigger arches than the Mk1 so less work is required.

thanks noobie, tbh hugely streched tyres dont really pull the look off for me, i may go for some 8's then, again cheers for the help guys :)

next shippment should be shipping in the next couple of weeks,

9j will need from my bad memory a 5mm spacer on a mrk1 on a mrk2 it depend on how low and what set up you have.

10J no one in the uk has a set yet !!! but tyres are a bit more for a 10J

Nick is still selling 6UL's most sets go to europe

My own 8j will be going for a re paint after i went a little off track at blyton one weekend.

There still selling and do what they should do.

Jac, I don't import the 10" unless to special order as the proper tyre size 275 35 15 is pretty much non existent in Europe. Hoosier is possibly able to supply, but they are full competition tyres and I expect would be a special import.
I currently have Silver, Bronze or Black in 9" and Silver Nickel and Black in 8" due in the middle of September.
