20 y/o door to glass weather strips look better than new ones with some silicon spray.. roof looks as new and water falls right off. Interior parts turn black again and the effects last a long time.
Dont put it near your paint though (especially if you plan on having anything painted soon)

I've recently found that Silicon spray is by far the best product on vinyl hoods and all black trim (interior and ex). And before you all start having a go.. it's what most of these cleaners are based on.. cheaper than most and seriously effective.

Your right, they are present in most cleaners and do a great short term job.
The trouble i find with them is that they sit on the surface of the trim and after heavy rainfall always streak. You need a quality trim treatment to feed the plastic/vinyl so it re hydrates the pigment.
not trying to correct you by the way

To be honest i need re-educating on car cleaning.. something ive never cared for myself much, but the silicon spray really is an epic cleaner... and really crap to paint over

Gtechniq i1
That's an awesome product!
Just ordered myself some Gtechniq i1 so and some Autoglym so I'll post some results up after i've trialled them both
The Gtechniq smart fabric is great stuff, I have some myself, however it'll be no good for a vinyl roof. The clue is in the name, it's for fabric, not vinyl. If you've got a mohair roof then it would work great.
For my vinyl roof I use the Autoglym stuff mentioned above, it really does a great job.
