Well my MX5 is a sports car and that's so far had the opposite effect on women... I mean yeah it does get their open, no doubt about that, but that's just due to them climbing over the door bars and that's where it ends really...

Skuzzlecharged, Jass'd up, MX5Restored, Rodder's padded, 1996 Eunos Roadster, in the 'proper' colour ;)

I used to drive with an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other, but then I swapped the devil for a supercharger whine and told the angel to get lost...

Disclaimer: If you don't like my humour, just don't laugh. Simple, I won't be offended and would prefer it if you weren't either.

saw a re-run of Top Gear the other day, the one where they tested a Lancia Stratos replica which had an Alfa Romeo engine in it, it looked the part but handled like a pig in ice skates, even the Stig span it several times around the track!

Some look ok, but it just seems you'd have to be a bit of a sad individual to want your car to look like a supercar...

All Lancia Stratos's handle like that :D They have an unbelievably short wheelbase..

2. P4 (designed/built by Noble prior to the M12 GTO etc, so proably a nice drive too)Posted Image Oh Dear! I think I have just arrived. That is absolutley fabulous. Replica/recreation wahtever! Stunning. Thanks for that

I remember a friend had a unit at Bruntingthorpe test track (he was in the hangars with the Vulcan) in Leicestershire, this was way back in 1993! Two amazing things I saw in the times I was there. One was this car in the unit next door, two guys owned the unit and were building these as 'one-offs' for customers (I didn't know this is now the Noble guy!) I was told off for sneaking a look around the door..

The second interesting thing that happened was a pre-production 'K' Reg prototype Mclaren F1 rolled up outside one day with a back-up truck full of engineers (K8 MCL?). I remember distinctly there was huge hype about the car and it's the only time I have ever seen one.. The nearside headlight was steamed up, also one engineer removed the cover in the centre of the steering wheel and there was a Duracell 9 Volt battery in there!

Stuff like that you never forget..

Agree when it comes to MR2 based fezzas and lambos that all seem to be driven by skinny asian kids still living at home. But can understand when it comes to things like the P4. There is no way any mortal will every get hold of a real one so what options are there?

You can be pedantic if you like ;) most replicas aren't bolt for bolt copies so that makes them not much better than a body kit IMO.

No, I'd disagree imo. A fake is a fake at the end of the day. The only point it would come close is if every nut and bolt was as per the original car and then it is the same car but obviously not built at the same time. That type of car has to be pretty rare though I'd say.

I am not being pedantic. You put a body kit on an mx-5 it is still an mx-5. You build a replica , you have a car that you actually built along with what ever engine you decide to put in , you decide the handling, power, looks, how close to the original you want it to be etc. A big difference. Anyone who tries to pass off their car as an original is a fool. Kit cars are for car enthusiasts who want a car similar to their dream car that they will never be able to afford. If only the original car will do then your missing out on the enjoyment of car ownership.
